Emoticons

“An emoticon (English pronunciation: /ɪˈmoʊtɪkɒn/) is a facial expression pictorially represented by punctuation and letters, usually to express a writer’s mood. Emoticons are often used to alert a responder to the tenor or temper of a statement, and can change and improve interpretation of plain text. The word is a portmanteau of the English words emotion (or emote) and icon. In web forums, instant messengers and online games, text emoticons are often automatically replaced with small corresponding images, which came to be called emoticons as well.”

I don’t do these very often. When I do, it’s usually for use on Eurobricks.

Classic Space Emoticons

These were first done for the Third LDD RCB, which I hosted on Eurobricks. I needed a smilie that was theme-specific to the Classic Space-themed RCB, so I did a blue Classic Spaceman. That, of course, meant I wanted to do red, white, yellow, and black ones. As of this writing, other expressions are also available for the blue and red spacemen:

The normal, ’round yellow circle’-faced versions of these are quite popular, but just not good enough for me. I LEGO-fied them:
